Lost Wedding Band Found at NJ Farm With Metal Detector

Camping trips are meant to make memories—but for John, a weekend on a Franklinville, NJ farm almost turned into heartbreak.

John was enjoying a laid-back weekend camping with family and friends. The weather was perfect, the fire was warm, and the laughter was endless. But during a game or a casual gesture, John’s gold wedding band flew off his finger into the night air—and vanished.

Later that night, long after everyone had gone to bed, I received a text at around 4 a.m. The message was short and urgent—he had lost his wedding ring and needed help. I told him to give me a call in the morning.

After getting the details, I met up with John and a few of his friends at the farm. They pointed out the general area where the ring was believed to have disappeared. I brought out my metal detector and got to work, creating a careful grid pattern to make sure every inch was covered.

Search for the lost wedding band!

At first, nothing. A few bottle caps, some foil, and random metallic junk turned up—but no ring.

After about 25 minutes of searching and expanding the search area just a bit further, the metal detector gave off a familiar tone. I dug down—and there it was.

A beautiful gold wedding band, slightly buried but still gleaming.

John’s reaction was priceless. A huge smile, a deep breath of relief, and a heartfelt thank you. This wasn’t just any ring—it had belonged to his late father, making it even more meaningful. The joy of being able to return it to him is why I do this work.

It’s not always about what you find—it’s about what it means to someone.
