A late afternoon call turned into another unforgettable lost wedding ring recovery in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey.
I received a call from Corrinne, who was standing on the beach in Wildwood Crest, NJ, after her friend Marilyn had lost her wedding band while boogie boarding in waist-deep water. The waves were rough, and Marilyn believed the ring had either slipped off or been pulled from her finger by the powerful surf.
Time was critical.
The tide was rising quickly, and every passing minute increased the chances that the ring would be carried farther into the ocean. I let them know I was only 15 minutes away and immediately headed to the beach with my metal detecting equipment.
Once I arrived, I entered the crashing surf and began a careful grid search. The conditions were anything but easy. The waves constantly knocked me off balance, and the strong current fought every step I took. The ocean can be unforgiving, but giving up wasn’t an option.
After about 45 minutes of searching, my metal detector produced the beautiful signal I had been hoping to hear.
The target was well out in the surf, and the waves continued pounding as I carefully recovered it from the ocean floor.
